What is this Condition?
Fracture of weakened vertebrae due to osteoporosis from minimal trauma or spontaneously. Common in elderly and postmenopausal women.
Diagnosis Methods
Spinal radiographs, CT, and MRI evaluate fracture and bone density. DEXA measures the degree of osteoporosis.
Treatment Methods
Conservative treatment with analgesics, rest, and bracing. Vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty is performed for persistent pain.
