What is this Condition?
Diagnosis Methods
Diagnosis uses imaging methods showing brain vessels (vascular examination with CT or MRI, and if necessary, angiography). If hemorrhage is suspected, emergency brain imaging is performed first. The size, location, and shape of the aneurysm are determinative in the treatment decision.
Treatment Methods
Treatment is planned individually for each patient between open surgical clipping of the aneurysm or closed methods performed from within the vessel (endovascular approach via the groin). Not all aneurysms require intervention; in some cases, the aneurysm is regularly monitored with planned imaging. The patient is clearly informed about which symptoms warrant emergency care.
