What is this Condition?
Intramedullary tumors are rare tumors developing within the spinal cord tissue. Astrocytoma and ependymoma are most common. More frequent in children and young adults.
Diagnosis Methods
Contrast-enhanced spinal MRI is the best diagnostic method. Definitive diagnosis is confirmed by biopsy.
Treatment Methods
Maximal safe resection is targeted using microsurgery. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are applied according to tumor type.
