What is this Condition?
AVM is a congenital vascular malformation where brain arteries connect directly to veins without passing through capillaries. Can present with bleeding, seizures, or headaches.
Symptoms
Epileptic seizures
Severe headache
Intracranial hemorrhage
Focal neurological deficits
Progressive neurological symptoms
Pulsatile tinnitus
Diagnosis Methods
Diagnosis is made with MRI and MR angiography. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) evaluates detailed vascular anatomy and angioarchitecture.
Treatment Methods
Treatment options are determined based on AVM size, location, and Spetzler-Martin grade. Microsurgical excision, stereotactic radiosurgery, or endovascular embolization can be applied alone or in combination.
