Diagnosis involves specialized laboratory testing (beta-2 transferrin) to confirm that the discharge is truly cerebrospinal fluid, along with detailed CT and MRI imaging to locate the site of the leak. The critical goal is to determine the exact location and cause of the leak (trauma, post-surgical, or spontaneous). If signs of inflammation are present, these are always evaluated urgently and as a priority.
