Symptoms

Swelling, bleeding, and a palpable depression at the site of impact
Clear fluid (cerebrospinal fluid) leaking from the nose or ears
Headache and vomiting
Alterations in consciousness (if accompanying brain injury is present)
Weakness on one side of the body, speech or vision disturbances
Seizures

Observation and seizure prophylactic medication if needed for superficial closed fractures
Surgical elevation and fixation of depressed bone fragments
Wound cleaning, membrane repair, and antibiotics in open fractures
Evacuation of accompanying hemorrhage during the same surgical procedure
