Intracranial Pressure Measurement and Monitoring

Continuous intracranial pressure measurement and clinical management

What is This Treatment?

The continuous measurement, recording, and clinical correlation of intracranial pressure through an implanted pressure monitor. Medical treatment (osmotherapy, sedation, hyperventilation) or surgical intervention decisions are made based on ICP values.

Benefits

  • Provides instant monitoring of pressure fluctuations
  • Enables objective evaluation of treatment efficacy
  • Makes early detection of cerebral herniation risk possible
  • Guides cerebral perfusion pressure optimization

Treatment Process

ICP monitor data is continuously observed. Normal ICP is 5-15 mmHg. Treatment protocol is initiated for values above 20 mmHg. A stepwise approach guides medical and surgical interventions.

When is it used?

  • ICP elevation management in the ICU
  • Monitoring osmotherapy treatment efficacy
  • Surgical decompression decision-making
  • Cerebral perfusion pressure target monitoring

Recovery and planning

ICP monitoring continues throughout the ICU stay. The monitor is removed when pressure values normalize and remain stable.
