Intraoperative Peripheral Nerve Conduction Study

Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and assessment

What is This Treatment?

Intraoperative Peripheral Nerve Conduction Study is the measurement of peripheral nerve conduction velocity and amplitude during surgery for nerve integrity assessment.

Benefits

  • Reduces nerve injury risk in real time
  • Helps the surgeon determine safe resection boundaries
  • Improves functional outcomes
  • Minimizes neurological deficit risk

Treatment Process

Electrodes are placed before surgery. Continuous monitoring is performed by a neurophysiologist throughout the operation. Significant changes are immediately reported to the surgeon.

When is it used?

  • Functional preservation in brain tumor surgery
  • Spinal cord monitoring in spine surgery
  • Nerve integrity tracking in peripheral nerve surgery
  • Cranial nerve preservation in skull base surgery

Recovery and planning

Monitoring concludes with the surgery. Temporary skin irritation at electrode sites may occur.
