Selective Carotid Arteriography (Bilateral)
Selective Carotid Arteriography (Bilateral) procedure
What is This Treatment?
Detailed angiographic imaging of both internal carotid arteries catheterized separately. Used for diagnosis and treatment planning of vascular pathologies (aneurysm, AVM, stenosis, occlusion).
Benefits
- Provides high-resolution imaging of the target vascular territory
- Enables detailed characterization of vascular pathologies
- Offers necessary anatomic information for endovascular treatment planning
- Minimizes radiation exposure
Treatment Process
A catheter is advanced from the femoral artery to the target artery. DSA images are obtained with contrast injection. AP, lateral, and oblique projections are acquired.
When is it used?
- Aneurysm and AVM diagnosis and planning
- Arterial stenosis and occlusion assessment
- Vasospasm monitoring
- Roadmap before endovascular treatment
Recovery and planning
Post-procedure 4-6 hours of groin compression and bed rest are required.
