What is this Condition?

Cavernous malformation (cavernoma) are benign vascular lesions consisting of dilated capillary vessels in the brain. Can cause bleeding, seizures, or headaches.

Diagnosis Methods

MRI shows characteristic 'popcorn' appearance and hemosiderin ring. Gradient echo sequences are sensitive in diagnosis.

Treatment Methods

Asymptomatic cavernomas are monitored. Surgical excision is considered for recurrent bleeding or refractory epilepsy. Stereotactic radiosurgery may be option for deep-seated lesions.
